"Discover the Surfing Experience in the Maldives"

The history of surfing in the Maldives dates back to 1973 when a young surfer named Tony Hinde from Sydney and his friend Mark hitched a ride on a private yacht sailing from Sri Lanka to South Africa. Unfortunately, the yacht ran aground on a reef in the Maldives. They spent several months repairing the boat and exploring the atolls. In early 1974, Tony discovered a group of surf spots near Himmafushi village island, including Pasta Point, Sultans, Honky's, and Jailbreak (all unnamed at the time). He decided to settle on the island. If you're interested in exploring surfing in the Maldives, the Malé Atolls are home to the most famous waves in the Maldives and some of the best in the country.
